Oilfield API-5CT Tubing Pipe

Oilfield tubing pipe can be classified as NUE (nonupset end), EUE (external-upset-end) and IJ (Integral-joint) type, The most common used tubing size are 2-3/8″, 2-7/8″, 3-1/2″ and 4-1/2″.

API-5CT EUE Tubing Pipe

The API external-upset-end (EUE) tubing pipe is broadly used due to the fact that is a good, serviceable interconnection in the majority of wells.

Without the need of modifying the actual thread shape, the joint dimension will increase because of  upsetting procedure. The EUE joint features a designed joint strength in tension and pressure strength much higher than that of the pipe overall body and, as a result, is considered a 100% joint effective connection.

To enhance  seal efficiency of API EUE tubing in high-pressure system, a grooved coupling, which accepts nonmetallic seal rings, is quite often applied in the coupling (see API Spec. 5CT SR 13).

API-5CT NUE Tubing Pipe

API non-upset (NUE) tubing is put to use much less than EUE tubing.

The cost of NUE is usually just a bit less than EUE, along with the joint strength is substantially less. The coupling joint diameter of NUE is less than EUE, which provides certain benefits in cases where clearance is small.

API-5CT Integral-joint Tubing Pipe

API integral-joint tubing is on the market in OD dimensions of 1.315 to a couple of.063 inch.

API integral-joint tubing provides  10-round form together with a joint strength which is less than the body minimum yield, this reduces its use.

The small OD of integral-joint tubing enables its use inside of larger tubing strings or inside of wells as unloading or vent strings.

How Tubing Pipe Is Used in Oil Drilling

As soon as the casing pipe is operated and located in place using cement, production tubing is managed into the oilwell.

Joints of tubing are coupled together by using couplings to make up tubing string. Driving tubing into an oilwell is actually very much the same as operating in casing, however tubing is smaller sized in diameter and is removable. The production string offers consistent bore from the reservoir to the wellhead, and jointly along with  some other equipment of the production string, releases oil and gas at the top.

Compared to casing pipe, production tubing is constructed to allow swift, effective, and secure installation, removing and re-installation. Oil and gas is also produced far more efficiently by way of tubing than through larger-diameter production casing.

Tubing Pipe Manufacture Process

Tubing is pipe used for the transportation of crude oil and natural gas from an oil or gas layer to the surface after drilling is complete.

It is made to withstand the pressure generated from the extraction process. Tubing is manufactured in the same way as casing, except that an additional process known as “upsetting” is applied to thicken the pipes.The tubing production processing is similar to the process of casing production.
